HISTORY

The person with the idea and inspiration behind Raimotech’s unique technology was a man by the name of Raimo Wourela. Mr Wourela was of Finnish descent, however he resided in Sweden. Working for many years as a Boat Builder he developed a deep-seated knowledge of glass fibre materials. In the beginning of the 80’s Raimo began to develop a new material as a replacement for glass fibre. This new material was to be cost effective to produce, easy to process and environmentally friendly.

In his search for a new material, he discovered that cellulose fibres contained unique properties which allowed it to reach the maximum obtainable level of stiffness that could be found in glass fibre. By the end of the 80’s Raimo had developed a method of manufacturing this new material. In 1995, he built and finalized his first production site which unfortunately burnt to the ground in 1996. Regardless of this set-back, he went on to develop the ideas for production in full scale. Sadly, Raimo never got to see the realization of his life work as he died in 1999. The project then lay dormant for a few years until a group of Raimo’s former colleagues happened by chance to meet a group of Danish entrepreneurs. Collectively, the team infused life into the project once again to finally turn Raimo’s ideas and dreams into reality.

The development of the material focus altered during this re-birth, such that CPC is now not intended for use in the replacement of glass fibre for boats. The material design proved to be far more interesting when used in replacement of wood and thermoplastics for a wide variety of products.

The required Capital was raised and the corporation of Raimotech A/S became a reality in November 2005.
